Understanding the Context Leading to the Concept
In this unit, we study the Civil Rights Movement, its leaders, and major events. We also analyze the challenges and successes in the fight for civil rights.
Empathy and its Role in the Beloved Community
In this unit, we explore the concept of empathy and its role in creating a Beloved Community. We engage in activities that promote the exercise of empathy.
Nonviolence and Conflict Resolution
In this session, we study the principles of nonviolence as a means of creating positive social change. We also practice nonviolent conflict resolution strategies.
Contemporary Champions of the Beloved Community
In this session, we study modern activists and leaders who continue to work towards the Beloved Community. We identify individuals who inspire students and discuss their contributions.
Achieving Equity and Justice for All
In this session, we explore issues related to inequality and injustice in society. We discuss strategies for achieving equity and justice for everyone in the community.
Art as a Catalyst for Changing our Community
In this session, we explore how art, music, and literature have played a role in social justice movements. Students create their own art to express their visions of the Beloved Community.
Building Our Beloved Community
In this session, we collaborate on a community project that addresses a local issue. We apply the principles of the Beloved Community to make a positive impact.
Community Service and Activism
In this session, we inspire students to get involved in their communities. We encourage and assist them in identifying local issues and develop action plans.
Measuring Our Progress: Reflecting and Assessing
In this session, we reflect on the journey toward the Beloved Community. We discuss achievements and challenges in promoting social justice. We also visit storytelling as a tool for change
Community Education and Peer Mentorship
Leaders work in cohorts and participate in a six-week training course consisting of:
Completing of workbook and worksheets,
Watching videos that accompany the workbook,
Engaging in group challenges,
Participating in weekly empowerment sessions with the program sponsors, and finally
Pitching a community project that aims to move their community closer to a Beloved Community

The content of this course are carefully constructed to fulfill multiple disciplines. This course is engaging, educational, and empowering, providing a fun and productive environment to apply the content to improve the local community.

Lessons and concepts delivered in multiple methods, including videos, a textbook, speeches, various writings, and PowerPoint decks. This is a well-rounded training that provides working sessions, so your youth can get work done while participating in the workshop.

Written assignments are provided to connect the lessons and concepts of the videos and text to a real initiative. Each session will provide tools to improve the community.

During the program, projects are created and executed. At the end, students make a presentation on their project and its impact to community stakeholders to get further support.
